Use Maps and Tokens

This guide covers how to use maps and tokens for encounters in SDMT, including uploading maps, placing tokens, and managing visibility.

If you are looking for strategic world, region, or travel maps, see Location Maps Tab. If you are preparing tactical encounter maps, continue with this guide and the Battle Maps Tools Reference.

By the end of this guide, you can:

  • upload and display a map
  • add, move, and remove tokens
  • control token visibility (hidden, fogged, visible, defeated)
  • use the grid and scale tools

  2. Drag tokens onto the map to represent PCs, NPCs, or monsters.

4. Manage Token Visibility

  1. Use the sidebar controls to set tokens as hidden, fogged, visible, or defeated.
  2. Confirm players only see what they should during the session.

5. Move and Remove Tokens
